SHARE THE HOLIDAY SPIRIT

It's that time of year again and I'd like to wish each and every one of you happy holidays and best wishes for 2021! It has been my sincere pleasure to work with our clients and colleagues this year and I look forward to serving them and many others with their business and intellectual property needs next year.

With the holidays come gifts, and this year is no different. Whether it's the gift of your presence or something more material, it's the giving that provides the most happiness - not the receiving.

Along those lines, I recently reached out to a couple of black and/or women-owed companies for gifts for a client and a friend. These Portland entrepreneurs helped me create unique gift boxes filled with food, wine, candles and other self-care essentials produced by local businesses such as Olympia Provisions, Woodblock Chocolate, Jacobsen Co and PDXPOP. It made me feel great to not only give the gifts, but to know that I was supporting Portland's small businesses while doing so.

If you still haven't finished your shopping, I encourage you to search out locally-owned businesses to finish your list. To help you out, I've listed the two companies I mentioned above - Glow Gifts and With Love, From PDX - as well as Prosper Portland's ShopSmallPDX site which links directly to hundreds of local businesses, many of whom are BIPOC-owned and will deliver to your doorstep.

Happy shopping! With gratitude, Susan.

Celebrating the Res Nova Law Team

This month we celebrate a new team member, Ryan Ripp. Ryan drafted the two blogs linked below and is a contract lawyer for Res Nova Law. He also founded RHR Business Law this year where he works with startups, small businesses, investors and nonprofits. When he's not busy working, he spends time with his partner, Julie, and their golden retriever-mix named Macklin. They head to the beach and the hiking trails whenever they can and Ryan looks forward to heading back to the gym in the post-Covid world. We're happy to have Ryan's assistance with legal work and writing.
